A Family-Driven Passion for Pool Building

Rondo Pools and Spas was founded in 1983 by Robert Rondeau and is a true American Family Business success story. This story started in Lowell, Massachusetts as the famous “Blizzard of 1978” was bearing down on New England. It was that bitter cold winter that tipped the scales and resulted in the Rondeau family moving to the valley of the sun in the summer of 1979. With two young sons, Kevin and Steven Rondeau, it only took that first summer before Robert decided that building a swimming pool for his family was a great way to escape the hot Arizona summer. Little did he know that deciding to build that pool for his family would change the course of his family’s life.

Milestones That Shaped Our Journey

1978 – Present

Relocation and Inspiration



1978

The Rondeau family, led by Robert Rondeau, decided to move from Lowell, Massachusetts, to Phoenix, Arizona, after experiencing the harsh "Blizzard of 1978."



1979

Settling in Phoenix, Robert built a swimming pool in his backyard to combat the Arizona heat, sparking his interest in pool construction.

The Birth of Rondo Pools



1983

Robert officially founded Pools by Rondo. Working from home alongside his wife, Judy, the couple managed every aspect of the business, from designing pools to customer service.



1988

The company took a major step forward by purchasing its first commercial property on Cave Creek Road in Phoenix. The new location featured an office and a display pool, enhancing Rondo’s ability to serve more clients and establish itself in the competitive Arizona market.

Expansion and Family Leadership



1990s

Throughout the 1990s, the company continued to grow as Robert’s sons, Kevin and Steven, joined the business. After completing their education, they brought fresh energy and ideas, helping to refine operations and expand Rondo Pools' presence across the Valley. The family’s shared commitment to quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction strengthened the company’s reputation, making it one of Arizona’s premier custom pool builders.

Leadership Transition and Economic Challenges



2004

After more than two decades of leading the company, Robert retired, passing the torch to Kevin and Steven. With years of hands-on experience, they embraced the challenge of continuing the Rondo legacy while adapting to evolving industry trends.



2005-2010

The mid-2000s saw a period of rapid growth in the housing market, leading to increased demand for custom pools. However, when the Great Recession hit, the construction industry faced severe challenges. Despite these difficulties, Rondo Pools remained resilient, leveraging its strong reputation and loyal customer base to weather the downturn and emerge stronger.

Geographic Expansion and Industry Recognition



2011

Seeking new opportunities, Steven relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he founded Rondo Pools – Tennessee. The expansion proved to be a success, with the company quickly becoming one of the region’s leading pool builders.



2014

Rondo Pools received the "Reader’s Favorite Pool Builder" award from Greater Nashville House & Home, a testament to its continued commitment to quality and innovation.



Present

Today, Rondo Pools continues to thrive in both Arizona and Tennessee, completing hundreds of custom pool projects each year. The company remains dedicated to cutting-edge design, superior craftsmanship, and exceptional customer service, carrying forward the vision that Robert Rondeau established over four decades ago.

After meeting with 5 different pool companies, we chose Rondo based on promised timeline, cost, design, and professionalism. Rondo delivered. They were great at keeping us informed/updated on the various phases of the project, and what to expect along the way. The design phase/permitting/etc. took about 2 months, and then the total time from the start of excavation to finished pool was less than 3 months. Rondo was great at answering our questions and addressing our concerns along the way, and the responsiveness/communication from everyone we dealt with at the company was excellent. We would highly recommend Rondo!

Before building our first ever pool, we connected with several different companies. Rondo won out for a number of reasons - a long standing local company with a great reputation, they created a unique, amazing design -- one that fits our lifestyle and exactly what we wanted! -- they carry an extensive selection of materials and they use the equipment we wanted.

We signed our contract the end of May, 2022 -- not good timing on our part, but we didn't want to wait any longer. Rondo was very upfront that they couldn't start until November. While the entire process took a year and a half (our pool was finished late August 2022), Rondo was in communication re: delays and they were transparent about where there were shortages in material and labor so we knew at all times where we stood. It was challenging given the delays and we missed the pool season last year, but the quality of work is incredible. We found Rondo's vendors to be of very high quality, they were professional and respectful of property while doing the work, and showed up to make changes/repairs when we needed them.

Everyone from our designer to our project manager, from customer care to our start up technician, from the owner to post build/warranty support was amazing to work with!

Back in 2019 I had 6 different pool companies come out and give me a quote. Did my research for the best equipment, in floor cleaning ext. We ended up choosing Rondo, the Rep was Amazing to deal with. I know it was a little before the Covid issues but it took 3 months to completely finish the pool. All the subcontractors were friendly and polite and showed up when they were supposed to.

I would 100% recommend Rondo, they have been in the valley for 30+ years. But in the end do your research and find out who is the best pool builder for your project. Rondo was our choice and will be for future projects!

Our experience with Rondo was nothing but spectacular! From the beginning of the design process, to the finishing process. The communication was impeccable. Through all of the phases. Their staff kept us constantly updated on each step. We’re readily available to answer questions. Paul Hon designed the perfect shaped pool for our unique space. We can’t say enough about this company. Would refer them to friends and family. Would definitely recommend them and if we ever need another pool we will be calling on Rondo. They are that good.
